Cholesterol Matters!

Another strong motivator to go Vegan came over me as I read about Cholesterol, Heart Disease, and Strokes in Western society. What's interesting to me is how it appears "diet" is downplayed some, and listed as one of the factors, often mentioned last in a list. Perhaps it's just me. But here's one: "High blood cholesterol: As blood cholesterol rises, so does risk of
coronary heart disease. When other risk factors (such as high blood
pressure and tobacco smoke) are present, this risk increases even more.
Your cholesterol level can be affected by your age, gender, family
health history and diet." And another one, saying there's no hope outside of drugs: "If high blood cholesterol runs in your family, lifestyle modifications
may not be enough to help lower your LDL blood cholesterol." So you must get some chemicals to help. Hmm.

This same page clearly states that "Cholesterol is only found in animal products." What if I gave up animal products then? Would that work? The website never suggests that as an option, but instead mentions food "modifications" only in passing. Other research has found a clear link between animal products and atherosclerosis. Remove the animal products and you remove the atherosclerosis. That's a highly controversial statement and Wikipedia nails it here with this statement: "The relation between dietary fat and atherosclerosis is a contentious field." It sure is. Lots and lots of profit at stake should the public decide to combat atherosclerosis with a radical removal of the main thing which causes it: Cholesterol-rich foods. When I read ways to "prevent and treat" high cholesterol I'm going to focus in on the food comments and skim the rest.
